Our client, one of the world's largest natural resources companies, is seeking a Project Construction Manager to join their team at the El Paso refinery on a contract basis.
Duration: Approximately 1 year plus
Rotation: 4 weeks on, 1 week off (need PM pre-approval for working that week)
Position Overview:
As the Project Construction Manager, you will support the Owner’s team in managing construction activities with a strong focus on safety, environmental compliance, and integration with site operations. You will oversee all aspects of project construction, including planning, field execution, commissioning, and hand-off to the site operations team. This role reports directly to the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution: Lead execution planning, scheduling, and constructability reviews. Manage construction teams to meet deliverables on schedule and to required standards.
- Team Collaboration & Communication: Interface with cross-functional teams, including site leadership, EPCM contractors, and safety personnel. Develop productive working relationships to ensure efficient project execution.
- Resource Management: Identify, source, and manage resources for surveys, environmental support, and metallurgical testing. Oversee procurement of materials and services necessary for construction.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct reviews of in-progress and completed work to ensure compliance with standards. Involve construction teams in all aspects of planning and commissioning.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Promote safe workplace practices and ensure compliance with all HSEC guidelines.
- Schedule & Budget Alignment: Monitor project progress, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective actions to realign with timelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field with 12+ years of project construction management experience, or
- High School diploma/GED with 15+ years of progressive experience in construction management.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Frequent travel to the project site (daily commute required).
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of project construction management, engineering, project controls, contract administration, procurement, expediting, materials management (logistics) and contracting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with EPCM and heavy industrial construction project management.
- Knowledge of Lean Construction practices and labor forecasting.
- Strong background in machinery installations and construction planning.
- Proven experience in setting and tracking KPIs.
- Familiarity with productivity and performance improvement for large teams.
